Hi Binairys,
I’m Katie, a licensed cosmetologist in Florida.
For you, I would highly recommend that you do stage makeup and hair. I would do a lot of research to see where you can get the most experience with makeup and hair styling in school. I say this because it’ll relate the most to your interests in dance. It can also go further into special FX makeup, which is very popular among cosplayers and theatrical performers. Some quick tips: practice on your friends and family, remember that because of the stage lights, the makeup will be heavier in application and don’t forget to set with powder!

Hello Binairys!
Cosmetologist need to have the following:
- Either a High school diploma or GED
- Education at a state approved and accredited cosmetology school
- A license, by passing an exam. Know that you'll need to renew your license overtime too, which has a fee.
- Hands on training at a apprenticeship.
Getting a four year college degree isn't necessary. You'd mainly need to focus on enrolling into a Cosmetology School. They usually take only 9-15 months to complete!
Once you finish, you can specialize in whatever interests you. There's many areas you can work in:
- Beauty salons/Barbershops: Hair care & styling.
- Spas: skin care
- Nail salons: nail care and decoration.
Some job titles to look into are
- Beautician: provides everything including hair-styling, makeup, nail care, etc! Usually, beauticians work in beauty salons
- Nail tech or technician
- Hairdresser
To find a cosmetology school, look at these lists:

- American Association of Cosmetology Schools - Accreditation | https://www.beautyschools.org/education-training/accreditation/
Sending you support as you enter cosmetology :)
