It would be a typical day as any other nurse. No different than an a staff nurse. Before you travel though you gotta get some experience as a staff nurse first then you can travel after 1.5-2 years.

Hey there. So it’s absolutely necessary to be comfortable and independent before becoming a travel nurse for a few reasons, one being you don’t really know the staff so you will have to be able to figure things out on your own and not ask a million and one questions. Also every hospital has slightly different materials so you have to be able to make connections between, for example, the IV pumps you’re used to and the IV pumps at a new hospital. And although it is pretty similar to a staff nurse, depending on the hospital you work at will determine how they treat you. I would also ask yourself what is important to you in your nursing career. Reason being as a travel nurse you may not always get the best patients. It’s possible you will get the agitated, difficult or boring patients in order to give the staff a break. As an ICU nurse I love taking care of sick and complicated patients but as a travel nurse you most likely will not get these patients. Odds are you will get the patients ready for discharge or ready to leave the ICU. Usually you will also be the first one to float to a different unit. Although if none of this matters and you just want to travel then that’s awesome too. I also traveled while working in Australia and it was more or less the same except you work in all the hospitals in the area and not just one. Also as a travel nurse the pay is usually better and you don’t have to deal with being a charge nurse, participating in committees or attending meetings. Good luck!
