Hi Efrain,
Sounds like a great career path! I don't know the number, but a lot of students change majors while they are in their bachelors program. So if you want to be a civil engineer, please research what that job entails. This is what I found on the internet for this position.
Civil engineers conceive, design, build, supervise, operate, construct and maintain infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector, including roads, buildings, airports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment.
So if you want to go get a degree in civil engineering; I would first research schools around the country that offer that degree. Then I would research "what" high school courses you need to be able to get accepted at a university of your choice. You need to create lots of options for yourself so if you do not get into your dream school, you have others. Also, you can also go through the community college route and transfer to a four year school if it does not work out as well.
I would also reach out to some local civil engineering companies by you and see if you can get a part time job there doing anything to start seeing the business from the inside. Research what programs you will need to learn in forms of being a civil engineer and you could start taking those courses online while you are in school now to prepare yourself.
You can start creating a LinkedIn profile of yourself and start networking with others focusing on companies and individuals in the civil industry. Also LinkedIn account users can follow others in industries you like so you can start following individuals or companies that are in the civil engineering world.
This is a good start to working towards your career you want. And if you ever start doubting this career and are unsure; there are aptitude tests that you can take that will give you career options suggestions based on your answers/likes or dislikes.
Have at it.
