Construction work hours will typically vary a bit job to job. Each job has its own deadlines. Sometimes, that means you may work 6 or 7 days a week to meet that deadline. There may also be lay off times. Those are times when your particular discipline or expertise is not needed on the job. Depending on the region in which you work, there may be seasonal layoffs.
Right now, skilled trades, people willing to work, are high in demand. So if you are a hard worker, you should be able to get as many hours as you like.

People in the trades usually work 40 hours a week and it is typical to have 2 weeks of vacation time per year. A lot depends on what type of company you work for- some smaller companies have opportunities for overtime so workers can earn as much as they want to. As the owner of the company I usually worked 60 hours a week.
