Doug’s Answer

I knew I wanted to have a good balance between my work and personal life, do work that I enjoyed and was good at, create my own business, and make a positive impact on the clients I'd help. I also knew that there were risks in being self-employed and starting projects with partners (I've co-founded five startups), but in many ways, it's not riskier than being an employee in a company. Being an entrepreneur isn't for everyone, though. It's hard work, and you often have to handle tasks like accounting, marketing, sales, customer support, product/service creation, leadership, and more, even if you have partners or employees. It's helpful to get ready by learning the skills and knowledge related to being an entrepreneur, as well as knowing which tasks are best managed by partners, employees, or sub-contractors.

Great question, Adel!

I love what I do - for me, becoming an entrepreneur was really an organic method of solving problems for my colleagues. It lead to me starting two service-based businesses.

Cheering your entrepreneurial journey!
