Being pharmacist has many advantages especially in the US. One of the main reasons that might you consider being a pharmacist is prn/ per diem positions also part time ones especially if you want to be more around your kids. Add to that, medical expenses is so high in the US, so in most cases I can help my family resolving their mild medical issues with OTC medications. So I can save them a trip to the Dr and some money. In addition, I like helping people and you can tell whenever I tell a patient the direction of using their medicine or a special tip about some drugs they show how happy they are. Finally, I like saving lives without being a MD or a nurse so I found this job is just right for me.

I was interested in the medical field but did not want to go to school longer than 6 years and wanted at least a bachelor degree. I wasn't interested in nursing or anything where I might have to deal with vomit or poop! I wanted some patient contact but not super close contact. I was interested in a job I could possibly do part-time if/when I had kids. Pharmacists salary was also appealing. I did well in anatomy, chemistry and other science classes in high school so it seemed like a good fit. I was also interested in dietetics but the pay was not nearly as good.
