Keyana’s Answer

I joined the veterinary field because I absolutely love animals and wanted to find many ways in how I could help animals

To prepare for this career, I did online schooling through Penn foster for veterinary assistant. Once I received my certification, I started working in the field with Banfield (this was the first clinic that hired me). Once I got comfortable in the field I went back to school to receive my license as a veterinarian technician.

I would recommend classes involving biology, anatomy, and medical math along with pharmacology. It will help out in the long run

Aside from going to school, I received a lot of on the job training from various people. I also had opportunities to learn at different hospitals and do ride alongs with large animals veterinarians to get a feel of how it is to work with all types of animals.

Education can depend on where you live and what school you decide to do. There are clinics that will help pay for schooling. For me I did that route, but total cost for my education was about $4000
