Hey there! This is going to be short for now. I'll elaborate on it after I know more about what you are looking for in details.

YES! There are a ton of medical softwares employed in medical research. Some of them are regulated or related to biomedical technologies such as imaging devices. That is actually one of the upcoming areas of investment and scholarly attention in spite of its long lasting high status. There is a lot of grants and various forms of funding for further software development in the field. As one of the interesting areas, you can look up telemedicine....

Cheers

Herman’s Answer

Hi Sowmya,

I work in the pharmaceutical industry. We use many types of software to oversee research, drug supply, supply chain, databases, etc. All of these software vendors hire software engineers to customize/maintain their system.

Furthermore, there is an increase in the use of electronic medical records as well. I'm sure EMR companies hire software engineers as well.

If you are interested in statistical programming, there are a lot of opportunities in biotechnology as well.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Herman
