Hi Dayami,
I'm not an ultrasound tech but I have worked closely with them for years in a hospital as a nurse. Here are some things I noticed and read about the job:
1. Sometimes you have to stand on your feet for a long time.
2. You might have to work long hours and push around heavy equipment.
3. It can be hard emotionally if you are doing an ultrasound on a patient and see that they have a disease.
4. You have a big responsibility. You have to do your job really well because you are the first person that sees if something is wrong with the patient. The doctors depend on what you see.
5. Sometimes you will have to do a lot of ultrasounds in one day which can be stressful.
I also hear great things about being an ultrasound tech like:
1. There will always be jobs available
2. You can work in different types of settings (like hospitals, clinics, schools, and labs)
3. You'll make good money
Good luck!

As a Sonographer, everyone's preferences will vary, but it's common to hear about body aches due to repetitive motion injuries and tension in the neck or shoulder from extended periods of holding your arm out and applying pressure on patients. Since I didn't grow up exercising, I often experience muscle strains and pains from my job. However, I know that staying fit and strong can help overcome these challenges in this career. So a routine exercise habit is very beneficial to a long-term career in sonography.
Just like in any workplace, gossip can be an issue. To avoid drama, it's best not to get involved or become the subject of the gossip. In the ultrasound field, the key to keeping everyone content is managing your fatigue, staying strong to contribute effectively, and managing your time efficiently. Make sure to stock the rooms, complete extra tasks, and maintain a clean environment for the next shift. Focus on your own performance and avoid getting caught up in office politics.
I love my career because of the visual aspects of ultrasound and the opportunity to use my problem-solving skills to help others. Staying centered on helping people will help you overcome any challenges in a healthcare career. Practicing self-care and maintaining a positive attitude are crucial in this line of work. Ultimately, this is an excellent career choice that can lead you to exciting opportunities.
