Hello, Gabriel. Although I'm not part of the construction industry, I can tell you that it's a field with lots of growth potential. Many workers begin as generalists, doing tasks like digging, cleaning roads, demolishing walls, and moving equipment. As they gain experience, they help out in specific areas like roofing, working with pipes, handling structures, or doing carpentry. Some even get certified to deal with dangerous construction materials and waste.
Over time, general construction workers usually pick a particular trade, start an apprenticeship, and complete the required training and certification to become a journey worker, which means someone who has finished an apprenticeship. They might also choose to earn a bachelor's degree and become a construction manager. In short, starting as a general construction worker can open up many opportunities.
By the way, if you're afraid of heights, you can always choose tasks that keep you on the ground.
I hope this information is helpful.

Most of the time you will not have to go to high, or even get off of ground level. If you do, you will almost certainly be indoors. Just do not do any type of roofing if you are scared of heights. On the career side of it, you can always start as an entry level worker, even in sales, then become a Project Manager or Project Coordinator. After that, you can just keep moving up to hopefully become a VP. You might want to also consider just becoming a GC at some point. (General Contractor)
