As Aman stated, www.glassdoor.com is a great resource. Your potential company and the city can alter the salary range quite a bit. An accountant starting in New York City may start at $60,000, while an accountant in a smaller city or rural area may be closer to $50,000.
Most accountants see solid income progression throughout their careers as they become more knowledgeable and more valuable to their clients. Many accountants can end their careers making over $100,000. It is also worthwhile to note that several accountants move on to other career paths in business. Accounting is a great way to be able to learn how companies and business operate, and an accounting degree can help you get several non-accounting jobs later on!

There are plenty of opportunities for advancement in accounting as well as perks. These in my opinion should also be taken into account when comparing salaries.

Hi Thuy,
As the others have mentioned, the starting salaries of an Accounting are pretty decent and grow in different ways as you progress through your career. There are some Accounting professions that pay more than others and often times it depends on your position, the industry you are in, and the amount of responsibility and expertise the position requires.
You can start your career in the $40-60K range depending on location, and have it grow to several hundred thousand dollars by the time you retire if you make the right moves toward your end goal. Many CEOs, CFO, CAOs, etc. have started their careers in Accounting and grown their careers over the years. You can also work for a Public Accounting firm, like PwC, and work your way to becoming a Senior Manager or even a Partner! If you get your CPA license, you can also own your own practice and grow that as large as you'd like it to be, which will determine the amount of money you make as well.
A lot of Executive Compensation information is available online for Publicly-traded companies. I suggest doing a Google search for some of the large well-known companies you can think of and seeing what their CEO, CFO, and other Executive's make. I think you'll be happy with what you find. Remember, to get to these levels, you must put in the hard work and make the right connections and move. You'll be great!
Hope this helps!
