As a nurse you will be asked to work every day as a member of a team, so finding opportunities where you can develop teamwork skills can be helpful. That may be playing sports, working or volunteering with a community group, or participating in a band or theater group.
In my opinion, the best thing to do is volunteer in a care setting. That could be a nursing home, daycare center, foodbank, emergency medical services, or a hospital. This type of volunteer activity demonstrates clearly that you have empathy and compassion for others and is hard to overlook by schools and employers.
Find an area you care about or feel strongly about and jump in. You will not regret it and you will learn something about yourself and others.
Best of luck to you.

Hi Kofi,
One thing to consider to help prepare you for the field of nursing would be schooling for a Nurses Aid. It generally is 6 months in a junior college or is offered through some high school programs. This can help give you real world experience in the field to help you determine if it's right for you, and if you work in a hospital setting you can often get tuition reimbursement towards nursing school.
Good Luck!

Hey Kofi, that's an awesome question! Firstly, remember that when it comes to achieving any goal in life, the only person who can hold you back is yourself.
Grab a notebook and use it as your daily goal tracker, marking off a goal each day. Consider doing internships at nursing homes, or even volunteering at nursing homes and hospitals.
By generously giving your time as a volunteer, you'll gain valuable skills that can significantly improve your nursing career.
I hope this helps you out!
Best wishes!
