Terrific question, I wish I had thought of them myself! My focus was on getting hands-on work experience, so I found office jobs through temp agencies. But when you think about it, you'll be working in one career or another for the rest of your life. Right now, you're in the perfect position to explore opportunities that help you grow, without being as serious as just pushing papers around. Go out and see the world. Travel if possible. Become a guide. Teach others new skills (like sports or hobbies). Spend time outdoors and in nature (as a lifeguard, camp counselor, or even mowing lawns). Volunteer your time (with the elderly, children, or serving meals). Nourish your soul.

During the summer, students have a plethora of exciting options to choose from. Are you eager to work and gain valuable experience in a field you're passionate about? If so, consider exploring internships in that area (but remember, many internships begin their search in January). Alternatively, you might want to volunteer and engage in activities like those Marcelius mentioned. Securing a job at a children's camp can be both fulfilling and rewarding. Or perhaps, you'd rather dedicate some quality time to bonding with friends and family away from work?
The great news is that you can often enjoy a mix of these experiences all in one summer! Reflect on what you hope to achieve during this time – whether it's volunteering, pursuing a career, working for enjoyment (such as being a camp counselor or at an ice cream shop), or a blend of these options. Remember, you don't need to juggle countless tasks to feel productive. Instead, simply look within and determine what you want to gain or contribute this summer.

Push yourself to complete a goal or a project, and learn to always be accepting of failure during said progress. Remember, failure isn't the end, it's part of the road.
Set yourself a finish line and chunk-it bit by bit until it is done. Find inspiration around you, and fuel it by wanting to see yourself in that's same position.
Most importantly, don't burn yourself out. Give yourself time to finish, make a realistic deadline with a realistic scenario.
Good luck.

There are great answers to this question, already! I would simply add:
Take a little time to relax, to have fun, to do something that makes you happy.
Take a little time to learn something new, to expand your mind (could be through reading, or attending a free class in your community, etc).
Take a little time to talk with a couple of people that you admire, people who are doing interesting things, people you can learn some great lessons from (and gain good advice).
Take a little time to do something that either gives you new skills/experience or helps you to further develop a skill.
Take a little time to connect with, be a part of, your family (whether bio fam or chosen fam of close friends).
All of this will serve you well, in this moment, in the upcoming year, and in your life.

Embrace life to the max! Cherish moments with friends and family, and simply enjoy yourself! If you find spare time to acquire new skills or take up a side gig for additional income, that's a fantastic bonus. Nevertheless, prioritizing relaxation and personal well-being during your time off is always a positive choice.

Hello, Preston! You've asked a fantastic question. Engaging in volunteer work is one of the most rewarding and effective ways for you as a student to learn and connect with others. Some great examples include assisting at a homeless shelter, participating in Boys and Girls Club activities, getting involved in youth programs, contributing to a food pantry, or even cleaning up trash in your community or another one. The key is to make a positive impact on both yourself and others. Remember, lending a helping hand to those in need is truly the most precious gift you can give in life.
Wishing you a bright and successful future,
Warmest regards to you.
