Charlie’s Answer

There are numerous online platforms dedicated to connecting students with internship opportunities. Websites like InternMatch, Internships.com, Indeed, and LinkedIn can be valuable resources to search for internships based on your preferences.

Many local businesses and organizations also offer internships to high school students. Research companies and organizations in your area that align with your interests and reach out to them directly to inquire about potential internship opportunities.

Networking can be a powerful tool in discovering hidden internship openings. Share your interests with your family and friends to inquire about any connections they may have regarding internship opportunities that may not be widely advertised. Your high school's career center or guidance counselor may also have information about local internships or connections with businesses in the community.

Remember that securing internships can be competitive, so it's essential to start your search early and be proactive. Stay organized, remain persistent, and use every opportunity to learn and grow throughout the process. Good luck!

Patrecia (Trish)’s Answer

Begin by identifying the areas you're most excited about. From your list, choose the top three that truly spark your interest. Next, search for companies that cater to those roles and explore their websites to see if they offer internships. Once you've found a few appealing companies, reach out to their human resource departments to inquire about any necessary forms. Additionally, don't hesitate to speak with your school counselors, as they can provide valuable assistance in securing an internship at your desired company. Keep up the enthusiasm, and you'll be on your way to a fantastic internship experience!

Hello Yana,

You've received some fantastic advice here! To discover exciting opportunities, I recommend engaging in Networking, utilizing LinkedIn for exploration, consulting with your guidance counselor, and connecting with alumni from your school. Embarking on your first internship journey locally is always a wise choice! As you have a diverse range of interests, try selecting two areas from your list and pinpoint 3-5 businesses that resonate with those passions. Craft a personalized email to send to business owners or hiring managers, showcasing your enthusiasm for joining their company and highlighting some of your notable achievements so far - a personal touch can make all the difference!

Hi Yana,

Trish has some excellent suggestions. In addition, I recommend "crowdsourcing" on some of the local social media pages as a great way to get local connections and leads. I have seen many high school and/or college students post on my towns community facebook page. The ones that stand out are focused in the ask and let them know availability (eg. have transport and can work weekdays or weekends). Best in your search!

Hi Yana,
Have you tried searching on google. There are many platforms that speak of applying for internships. The other way would be to ask around at the places (ie. local businesses/ companies in your area) you want to intern at. The next way would be to consult you school counselors. They have access to places that might interest you.
