If you are interested in playing football in college I would look at attending football summer camps at a college near you. It is a great way to learn more about what you will need to do to play college football. I would also try to go to some college football games to see what it is like. Once you are in high school around the end of your sophomore year you can start reaching out to college about their football programs. They will usually have a "prospect athlete" link where you can fill out your information and stats to let them know you are interested in playing there and they can see if you would be a good fit. There are many different divisions and levels of college athletics and you will want to understand where your skills best land you to apply to.

Biggest advice to start now:
Practice, practice, practice
Attend football summer camps (local or at a college)
Talk to your coaches or college coaches about what you should be doing

Hope that helps!

Jonathan’s Answer

If you have a passion for playing college football, it's crucial to truly love the game. You'll need to dedicate a significant amount of time to the sport, and enjoying it will make a difference. College football offers a level for everyone, regardless of your abilities. As a current college football team member, I've discovered that those who genuinely love the game tend to be the most successful.

Additionally, if you're a middle school student, I recommend starting to work out and lift weights more seriously. Beginning weight training early can give you an edge. However, always focus on using the correct technique when lifting. The amount of weight you lift isn't as important as how well you lift it and how often you do so. Consistency in training leads to the most effective improvements.
