What majors do students preparing to become a vet usually take?

I would like to become a vet when I'm older, but as I'm applying for college, I am lost for what majors I should take. I understand that there are a variety of majors that students studying to become a vet take, I just don't know what those majors are.

To be more specific, I mean what majors do pre-vet students take? #college-major #veterinarian #veterinary #majors #veterinary-medicine

Hi Nicole,
As long as you complete the required courses to be considered for vet school, you can major in anything. Most students will major in biology, animal sciences, or veterinary technology so they can start getting an understanding of the field and start taking upper level biology courses but I have also seen students major in history, English, etc. so they are more well rounded or have other interests.
Typically vet schools require a year of chemistry, biology, and English plus courses in physics, organic chemistry, math, and biochemistry.
