Literary analysis includes variety of aspects of the text: Analyzing the language, ideas, literary characters, aesthetic applications, and so on. Saying in a simpler way, literary analysis is your understanding of the work, its meaning, language and structure. For instance, remember one of your favourite books and answer these questions: What is that story about? What are the psychological characteristics of its heroes? What is the main idea/message of the work? So, the above-mentioned is an example of literary analysis, although at a professional level, it includes much more as I've mentioned.
You can choose this career if you are very fond of literature, fictional characters and reading in general. Study programmes vary from country to country, but most probably, you will learn: Literary theory, stylistics, text interpretation, national and world literature of different periods, and so on.
All the best and good luck.
