They key to understanding where you will fit within one of these fields is to first understand which one you're most passionate about. You should invest in researching each field individually. Look into what education and/or certifications are required. Perhaps seek out a mentor or someone in the field that you can shadow or answer questions for you. Read up on industry trends to understand the current and future of the industry to better understand how your education will relate or give you an advantage.

That is a great question that is more important today than ever before. Today's economy finds that, unlike 20 years ago, specialization is prefered over being a generalist. Finding your true "niche" is critical.
My suggestion for finding what that "niche" is , would be to obtain a "MY" degree (Masters in You!). Diligently work on understanding as much as you can about your strengths, passions, likes, dislikes, etc. Let your heart and talents dictate your path. Too often people follow the job rankings, salary expectations, or other people's advice.
Follow your true path by learning all you can about yourself (I personally recommend taking the Strengthsfinder assessment) and learning as much as you can about each area you are interested in (informational interviews are a valuable tool), before making a decision.
Even at that point, if you choose incorrectly, it is OK. The best career paths have been paved by individuals that have failed fast and failed early.
Best of luck,
Gerard

Hi Rankin!

You can make the niche, look for a gap in your field and how you can fill that gap, try different things you are interested in and see what works for you.

Don't be afraid to go broad, you don't have to climb high, you can try different things that are related and find the niche you would like to work in.
