Stress in college comes mostly when attempting to do too much, or to accomplish too much too soon. You will want to do well, and may feel that putting more time into your studies will do that, but it will not. You will manage stress by managing your time. Allocate space to studying, and some space for enjoying college life. And monitor the time spent periodically. If possible, spread your classroom activity throughout the week, allowing time between them to focus on key material to review. Make it a point to get to know your professors by speaking with them privately and asking for assistance when you are not making progress on a topic. By having a personal plan, you will avoid stress, and by speaking with others on your fears, you will stay in charge of them. All the best to you.

Judith-Ann’s Answer

Hello, Travis. College is a time of learning how to handle stress. I am sure you handled stress in high school and now college gives you an opportunity to learn how to handle stress on the next level. It's good to think about it before you actually get into your semester.
AS you are entering into your school year, first consider what are your priorities? Be honest with yourself so as not to set yourself up for failure. Truly, some are in school to party, some are in school to get away from home, some are in school to learn, some are in school to find a career to make a lot of money, some are in school to find their purpose. I'm not sure there is one answer, but be honest with yourself. Once you have decided is your priority, design a plan to keep yourself on track. In your plan, make your priority your main focus of scheduling, time, and energy. Then allow time for relaxation, personal care like laundry, housekeeping, homework, etc. And definitely find something you love to do like tennis, skate board, surfing, chess, etc and allow time in your schedule for at least 3 hours of week for this relaxation. And always remember good self care and kindness to others. I wish you a very successful journey!
