Hi, Grace,
Becoming a dermatologist will provide a strong career for you and, yes, as are other medical professions, the study is hard. You need a 4-yr college degree, then medical school (several years), and then probably a four-year residency before becoming fully credentialed. On average, you would probably be approximately 30 yrs old when you enter the profession. I located a website that provides a high-level overview for your review:

Hi! Dermatology sounds like a great career. Every career comes with a certain degree of difficulty, but it's worth the hard work if it's a dream of yours. To become a Dermatologist, it's important to maintain a high GPA as it will be important for getting accepted into a good college. Being accepted into a good college will open the door when applying to medical schools. I would recommend state colleges/universities. I would try to stay away from junior colleges. It would probably be best to get your under grad degree in science, such as biology and chemistry. It will also be in your best interest to take advanced math courses as they will be useful when tackling medical school. Math is not only challenging, but it really tests your thinking power. Stay focused on your goal, and the sky is the limit.
