How do I advertise my babysitting business around my neighborhood?
I’m a freshman in HS and I want to earn some extra money. I have handed out flyers about my services but people don’t get back to me. How do I fix this?

I suggest seeing if the nextdoor.com social media has a setup in your community. This is an excellent, free, resource where you can advertise to a specific set of neighborhoods. On your flyers, be sure to include info that references are available and provide a phone number to call or text, as many potential customers may not be on Facebook.
Thank you, this is really helpful.

One thing that seems to help the local high schoolers around my community is to post your advertisements on local groups such as community Facebook pages. Another is by word of mouth so if you ask friends or family members they might be able to pass the word around.
Thanks, can't wait to put this advice into action!

Hi Abby, Just as Brandon suggested I would advertise on your local Facebook or NextDoor Neighborhood groups. You can even ask your parents to place a post for you as having an adult make the post suggests more responsibility to some parents. I am a parent of two young children and I see parents post for their children on our local Facebook page. This is nice and convenient for us parents as we are often looking for reliable babysitting options.

Brandon and David have both put forth excellent ideas. My own daughter found success through Care.com, a platform she used to connect with families in need of babysitting services. I noticed your flyer and wondered if you've mentioned your CPR certification? If you haven't taken this course yet, I strongly suggest you do. It provides an additional layer of comfort to parents, knowing that you're equipped to handle emergencies. If business is still slow, consider offering a one-time discount to existing clients and their referred families. For instance, if the Smith family refers the Jones family, depending on your hourly rate and the number of hours you babysit, they could each enjoy a one-time savings of $10-25.
I am CPR certified! Thanks for the advice!

Good to hear and best of luck. I have responded to over 20 questions, and you are the first to follow up, and saw that you did that with others. Way to go! No need to respond to this one but appreciate getting back with all of us on any feedback; it show's great imitative and dedication to what you are trying to achieve.

Hello Abby!
This is a great question. What I would recommend is to post about your babysitting job on social media. Specifically Facebook, I know many parents and couples that are always looking to hire a babysitter. Additionally, reach out and see if the neighborhood or area you live in uses a public neighborhood app such as "Nextdoor" or similar uses like that one. Finally, I would try and spread the message to your family members, and ask if they are able to share your business with fellow comrades, other loved ones, etc. The more you tell people, the more the message will spread!
I hope this helped, and good luck in your endeavors!
Thank you
