By looking at 3 factors very carefully.
1. What you are excited about and may love doing?
2. What you could be good at?
3. What will provide you the life you'd like in the future?
Example 1
I may wish to become an Olympic gymnast but do I have the capability and the means to become one or am I day dreaming?
Example 2
I love art and I'm great at it but I also want a nice life, can I find work in arts that pays for that life?
This doesn't men forget art and go and become a doctor/ teacher/ lawyer etc
It means if you know where your talent is, train in that, become exceptionally good that you could make a living from it. How?
Example 3
I am a very talented and creative editor. In order to become the best, I'll try to become proficient in all major editing platforms out there. I will work part time jobs and invest in myself, learning, connecting with professionals in my field. I'll seek internships and make connections. I'll seek mentors to help me through. I'd go further and learn VFX and animation too. As you become more skilled and more knowledgable, the greater your chances will be in succeeding as the further you go the more unique you become.
The trick is to find something that you love, that you can have the talent for and then work really hard to become truly great at it. Adapt a Champion's work ethic, thrive to achieve and you will.

Hello Cierra,
I understand the challenges you're facing in selecting a college major, as I've been in your shoes. Don't stress, you'll find your path eventually.
Start by considering what activities or jobs you enjoy. Your passion can be a powerful motivator during the challenging college years. If you're not yet passionate about a specific field or job, that's perfectly fine. Reflect on the subjects you've enjoyed in your past studies and your personal strengths. Try to connect these with potential majors.
There are numerous quizzes and tests available online that can help you identify the fields or majors that might interest you. Don't hesitate to participate in online seminars or career talks.
It's also crucial to research the job possibilities that come with each major. Watch vlogs or read blogs by people currently working in those fields to get a feel for the day-to-day responsibilities and tasks. This can help you determine if you'd enjoy working in that role. The key is to thoroughly research your potential major and familiarize yourself with its job prospects.
While passion is a significant factor in choosing a major, it's also important to consider the demand for jobs in that field. Will you be able to find a job that aligns with your studies easily? Best of luck, and I hope you find a major that you truly enjoy and brings you a fulfilling future.

Hello Cierra!
Great question! Simply answered, I would recommend to step your foot into multiple areas. If you find that what you are currently in or studying does not satisfy and appeal to what you want to do in the future, then you can easily shift away from that one area and focus in another. In college, I knew that I wanted to focus my studies in general business. However, that is all I knew. After focusing my studies in multiple areas of business, I found my way into Human Resources where I currently am working in today. I received my MBA focusing specifically in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources, and currently have a position as an Human Resources Administrator for a Sam's Club distribution and fulfillment center. You will never know what you like until you dip your foot in the water and tread through several areas!
I hope this helped, and good luck in your endeavors!
Thank you
Molly H.

Start by looking at things that seem interesting to you. Is it working with animals, being outside, etc.
From there, you can look at professions that are in those areas. You could even reach out to people doing those jobs and ask about their path. By doing that legwork up front, you could put yourself in a great spot in the future.

Your major should revolve around what you're passionate about/what you find interesting. If you're unsure, try different things, take a class you think you will enjoy. Another thing is to remind yourself you aren't stuck with a major once you pick one. Don't be afraid to reach out to people as well!
