I want to be an anime artist, make comic books, tv show and video games but I dont where to start or what college to go to.

I'm in 11 grade and I'n hoping to work for Funimation when I finish school. I draw my own anime characters and also write story line for them. I am a naturally born artist, I enjoy drawing and teaching my self new techniques daily. #art #comics #anime #game-art

First off I want to say that I think it's great that you're looking into a career in art. There are many resources out there and i'll try to enumerate as many as I can.

But let me just toss in a little correction: Funimation licenses and distrubutes Japanese anime in the US and does not produce the content themselves. So working for Funimation might not be the ideal choice if you want to draw and create content.

That being said, the next step for you would be to get a solid, formal art education and foundation. Here is are the top 3 art schools in the US according to education-portal.com:

RISD (http://www.risd.edu/) is definitely the best in the nation and has pumped out some great talent.

I went to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA (http://www.academyart.edu/). I had a good experience but with the campus being spread out across the city it was not the best college experience out there.

Here's another resource that also includes international schools: http://www.animationcareerreview.com/articles/top-100-schools-animation-gaming-and-design?page=0,9

I would definitely recommend going to college and getting a good art foundation. You'll see that there's more to art than just manga and anime. And while I definitely enjoy those media as well, I feel strongly that artists should be exposed to all kinds of art before narrowing your style to one type too early on.

I would also suggest looking up artists that you admire and seeing where they went to school and how they got into the industry. There is no "1 right way" to pursue this as a career, but getting a solid education and getting to know other people working towards similar goals is a good place to start.

I hope that this helps.
