Becoming a licensed esthetician typically involves completing a state-approved training program that ranges from 600 to 1,000 hours, followed by passing a licensing exam and obtaining state licensure. The timeline varies depending on your state and circumstances but can take 4-6 months for full-time students. Attracting clients as a newly licensed esthetician requires strategic efforts, including networking with beauty professionals, establishing an online presence, offering promotions, providing excellent service for client retention, and continually improving skills through education. Building a solid client base takes time and patience, with word-of-mouth referrals and positive reviews playing a crucial role in your career's growth and success.

Hi Kimberly
Becoming an esthetician usually takes anywhere from 250-1000 hours of study. It really depends on the states specific requirements. It appears Texas requires 750 hours to become certified or licensed. Is there where you will be attending school?
As far as clientele… I have found working at a spa for the first few years to build up loyal clients and training outside school has been key. Once you have a loyal clientele with a great rebooking rate, it’s easier to leave that spa to your own rental or space knowing you have guaranteed bookings.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I’m currently licensed in California and Washington.
