Generally, paid dancers are highly trained and skilled professional quality dancers. You would have to be a dancer. If all you want to do is dance in a sports arena, that is a different story and you'd have to audition and be chosen as part of the troupe. That would greatly depend on who is hiring and if they're auditioning specifically for that event or if they're hiring an already established troupe of dancers. Although your question may be hard to answer because the answer(s) are conditional, I do hope to shed some light and ideas for you.

There are many venues for dancers. One would be to work on a cruise ship or in Asia in one of their many clubs. That's if you want to travel. There are also opportunities in films and videos. You will need to know and be able to do multi genres of dance. There is a website that mentions dancer auditions called Auditions.com where you can find specific auditions and each employer states exactly the details that come with their specific employment. There are also jobs for dancers on Indeed.com. This is good for when you are at a professional level of skill.

Try not to limit your options for only one arena. Dancing comes easy to some and is a challenge for others. Many dancers are very skilled actors and singers, as with those that obtain employment in Broadway musicals. If you want to be a dancer, that is one goal but if you just want to dance in some shows as an actor, that is a different plan.

Anything in the perfoming arts field is not guaranteed. You may audition for several things and not get chosen or you may land the job on your first try. Never give up. Keep promoting yourself through blogs, You Tube type videos and sharpen your skill. Keep an upbeat personality with lots and lots of energy and practice three to five times a week. Persist at this and do what you love.

I wish you all the best in your pursuit of work in the dance field. May many good things come your way !
