Hello Alicia! Your question is fantastic and your chosen major is truly exciting. The beauty of Sociology is its wide applicability in almost everything we do. Essentially, you're delving into the social dynamics that shape us as human beings.
I would suggest actively engaging with your career counselor and tapping into your school's network to find alumni who graduated with the same degree. Arrange an informal 'coffee-chat' or a brief 15-minute ZOOM call with them.
There are numerous career paths you can venture into with a Sociology degree, including becoming a researcher, case worker, paralegal, public relations professional, community organizer, or public policy researcher.
Once you pinpoint what aspect of this field truly ignites your passion and you connect with someone who has firsthand experience, your goal or interest will seem more attainable. However, bear in mind that everyone's journey is unique. No path is perfectly laid out.
Stay committed to your work, keep your passion alive, and most importantly, enjoy the process. Never lose hope and keep pushing forward.

Hi Alicia,
Great question. Good news: a sociology major allows you to explore so many career options!
I would think about what specifically interests you about your sociology major: is it race, gender or ethnic relations? the impact of education? the impact of drugs and crime on life outcomes? Sociology is the study of human behavior and interactions, which will give you a foundation for any career that involves working with people. You can choose to go into social services (social worker, school counselor) or you can choose to pursue business consulting, teaching, marketing, etc. You could also go into more schooling (law school, business school, etc). A major in sociology will give you a foundation on public speaking and writing, so you will hone your communication skills which is great for any career.
The world is your oyster!

There are numerous opportunities with a major in sociology. I think it would be best for you to narrow down which sector you want to work in before settling on a specific career. You could go in to business, education, research, or social work, as each of these areas deal with functioning of our society. I would home in in which field interests you most before exploring careers.
Complete a personality assessment that would help determine what field you would excel in.
