Research the values and foundations of the college you're applying to. Do not have a cookie cutter essay that you send to all your schools.
Be a story teller. Stories of facing adversity and coming out on top and any stories that show your character and self are great.
Just be true to yourself.

Whatever you write about, be sure to convey your passion for the subject in a genuine, sincere way. It is always compelling to recount challenges you faced and overcame through hard work, discipline and patience.

Hello Avantika,
This is a really great question that many future College Students ask all the time. When writing a College Essay, you want to make sure you are honest and genuine. Start the essay off with something unique about yourself. Set the tone as if you are actually right in the Admissions Office speaking to the Committee. You want to capture the Committee's attention, and make them want to keep reading your Essay. Give them a vivid real life experience of something about you. This will draw them into your lived experience and have them eager to know the outcome of your experience. Don't be afraid to talk about any hardships that you have experienced in your life. They want to know about your hardships and understand what you went through. Be very specific and clear. Last, but not least, talk about what can you bring to that specific College.
I hope this is a great start for you on a successful, College Essay!
