Siddharth’s Answer

First start with your areas or field of interest that you want to pursue and then try to select your academic path that can help enlighten you in that field of interest and help get a job in the space. I will also assess if the field is a well earning space or not once your interest options are identified.

Houcine’s Answer

In my own experience, to achieve your career and academic goals successfully, it's essential to follow a well-defined plan. Start by setting clear and specific objectives, creating a roadmap with actionable steps to reach them. Continuously invest in education, seeking opportunities to enhance your skills through formal learning, workshops, and volunteering experiences. Surround yourself with a supportive network of mentors and peers who can offer guidance and encouragement. Embrace constructive feedback and learn from failures, using them as stepping stones to grow and improve. Effective time management and organization are crucial to balance academic pursuits, work, and personal life. Develop both technical expertise and soft skills like communication and adaptability, which are valued by employers. Stay curious, keep learning, and stay up-to-date with industry trends. Maintain a growth mindset, stay patient, and be open to new opportunities along the journey. Take care of your well-being and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, to stay motivated and focused on the path to success. Remember, achieving your career and academic goals is a continuous and dynamic process, but with dedication and a positive attitude, you can turn your aspirations into reality.

Patricia’s Answer

When entering any profession, make sure you have a passion or particular ability in that area. If you are able to volunteer or find mentorship programs for healthcare that would be ideal. It would give one exposure to the environment to see if it is a good fit. Depending on your age and state certification requirements, you could possibly even gain employment in entry level positions in health care environments such as patient transporter, dietary aides, or CNA (certified nurse assistant). Other helping professions such as life guard requires hands on training of CPR, and basic rescue and give you a sense of what working in an environment where safety, science and compassionate care of the community meet.

Patricia recommends the following next steps:

Learning Latin be helpful for all health care students, especially pre-med students.
Enrollment in relevant science and math courses will give you a leg up. See if some courses give concurrent College credit.
