as a chief whats the best position I can have that will pay the best and should I be my own business owner or look for opportunities that will get me the pay I'm looking for?
I'm interested in starting my business in fine dining. I'm more interested in the pay so I'm wondering if I would get paid any more or any less than if I worked for a bigger company than opening my business restaurant

I think you start out working for a company that hires a chef. Or, you can start a franchise, or your own eatery. :)

The earning possibilities in the upscale dining business can differ greatly, influenced by elements such as location, theme, and reputation. If you decide to own your own high-end restaurant, there's a chance for significant earnings, but remember, it's also paired with greater risks and initial costs. On the other hand, being employed by a larger, well-established company could provide a stable income, perks, and reduced financial risk. However, it might not match the earning potential of operating your own thriving restaurant. In the end, your financial success hinges on the unique conditions of your business and its performance.

A couple important things
- Your skill and value to the company should be more important than how much money you make. If you want to make the most money, be the most knowledgeable, the best at your job, team player, show up on time and work extra, you need to earn what you desire and that's what it takes. The faster you get that, the quicker you'll be get to where you want to be financially. I was an Executive Chef 5 years after high school, I worked long days and often for free just to learn.
- The restaurant industry is not the best place to make money if you are money oriented. Find a new path.
- Being in the hospitality industry, chef, GM, server, what ever position it is, you must have a hospitality mindset and genuinely want to serve people. If you are not a genuine servant of people, you won't be happy and because of that will not be able to obtain the position and money you want in the industry.
