When applying for jobs out of town, is it negative to put your current address?
I am currently a graduating senior (Fall '17) at San Jose State looking for work in Los Angeles for post grad. Would it look bad if I put my current address on the job application and my resume? I heard employers don't take applications hundreds of miles away seriously. What should I do? #resume

I think the easiest way to address this would be in any cover letter that you submit. If you have an address on your resume or have to list one in a job application, you can explain in your cover letter upfront that you will be relocating to the area and provide a brief explanation as to why. This will give your potential employer some context for your application and help them see you more as local/becoming local candidate rather than a long-distance one. It's even better if you can provide a date by which you will have moved. If you list your current address on your resume, you can put something like "(relocating to Los Angeles)" next to it as well. If you haven't already, I would also suggest having a career counselor at your school's career center (most should have one) look over your resume/cover letter - they may have some helpful tips! Hope this helps and good luck in your job search!

You should remove your address from your resume. However, when you interview you should bring it up in vase they have programs for relocation.

Ashton,
On your resume, under your contact information, add "Locations" and list any locations you are open to. I work for a large company that recruits from all over. If someone indicates that they are open to moving, then there is no hesitation.
Locations: San Fransisco, LA, Seattle
