What do I do if I have 2 options for a field that are related, yet a 3rd that is completely unrelated, yet I enjoy as much as the other 2?

I want to go into a biology field, either wildlife or agricultural, yet I also absolutely love all things choir. I want to have a career where I am constantly using my hands to figure something out, but I also want to help people learn something I've always enjoyed.

Hello Emily,

I had the same problem as you. Yet do not worry about this now. If you have not decided yet, you have your free time for the better future.

If you are passionate about biology, you are fond of animals, and love being in nature, and learned global issues (global warming, sustainability, nature etc.). If you watched and still watching documentaries about undomesticated species and the parts of the plant kingdom in Amazon or any tropical areas and loved watching all day long, you can choose wildlife as a job.

If you are passionate about food soils, and plants, you can do agriculture as a job. Yet you should know the way you soil the plant, how to keep the plant alive within global issues, know how many types of soils, and how to collaborate with firms (exp, sales, and/or marketing, budgeting etc.)
I would say that you should do agriculture as your interest, and you can choose wildlife as your job.

If you are talented on choir and your interest is singing, you should be cordially invited as one of the choir member. It can be challenging if a musician or music teacher who enjoyed your voice, you may be allowed to sing a song in fromt of others. If a musician who did not like your voice, you can nothing to do with it. If you failed you expected to achieve, you can move to the next. You can decide on choir, because the final decision is your decision. I can only give advice on this topic in general.

I hope this helps.

Excellent question!

If I were you I would sit down and try to think of what kind of person you are and what your beliefs are around work. This will help you figure out what type of career you want. Some people value jobs that give them consistent income and the time, mental energy and money to do their other passion (in your case singing). Some people need to do jobs where they’re consistently inspired and tapping into their soul regularly. they may not care about the financial ups and downs of inconsistent work because the trade off is worth it to them.

There is a world where you can do bits of all three. Like another commenter mentioned there are many ways to get involved with your passions outside of work. You don’t have to sacrifice two for one.

I encourage you to sit with that and think of the life you envision yourself having. I know it may be challenging but taking your time is so worth it. I believe in you :)
