Emily if you’re wondering how to succeed as a real estate agent, there a few things you can do to help with that. Unlike many professions, you don't need an advanced degree to become a successful real estate agent, but you do need a strong work ethic and support system.
Starting a career as a real estate agent is basically on par with opening a small microbusiness with one employee - you. Any business owner will tell you that establishing yourself takes a lot of effort at the beginning. Don’t be surprised if you work over 40 hours a week to begin with without getting very much pay. It’s the grunt work that has to be put in to lay the foundation for your success.
If you're really invested in the field, why not consider a degree in real estate. Having one provides a number of benefits to understand the financial and business relevancy in this field. Completing a degree gives agents a solid foundation in the basics of buying and selling real estate, allowing you to make more informed decisions about properties, mortgages, interest rates, and stay on top of the latest trends in the industry.
Holding a degree often makes potential agents more attractive to real estate brokerage firms. Since working with a brokerage company or licensed broker is a requirement to practice real estate, potential agents will need to fulfill the educational requirements of top brokerage firms. While some provide the necessary training, others require agents to have the knowledge and completed training before they hire any agents.
Hope this will be helpful Emily

Hi Emily:
According to U.S. News & World Report, here is a link to the Best Colleges and Universities for Real Estate Programs:
- University of Wisconsin - Madison
- University of Pennsylvania
- New York University
- University of Texas - Austin
- University of Georgia
- University of California - Berkeley
- University of Southern California
- Florida State University
- University of Florida
- University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/business-real-estate
When reviewing colleges and universities, it is best to check the following:
- In-State vs Out of State Tuition
- Internships
- Scholarships
- Career Placement upon graduation
- Course work and offered classes
- Post-Graduate Degrees - Master and Doctoral
Scholarship applications can start to be submitted during your Junior year and will continue throughout your Senior year in high school. It is best to ask your Academic Advisor/School Counselor on the timeline process as well. Scholarship applications will have specific deadlines and requirements to meet in order to be submitted for review and consideration.
You may want to start to compile your resume/portfolio since a majority of scholarship applications will require academic grade point average (GPA), academic accomplishments, school activities (clubs, sports, etc.), community involvement (volunteer, church, etc.), academic and personal recommendations, etc. There may be essay requirements on why you are a qualified candidate to receive the scholarship, what your future goals are academically and professionally and other questions centering around who you are, your beliefs, etc.
Here are a couple of links for College Scholarships:

https://www.nchchonors.org/students/awards-scholarships/national-scholarships
Also, it will be best to check with the colleges and universities that you will be applying to. You can check with the School/Department of your desired major, the Campus Career Center and the Register's Office for additional information for college scholarships and grants and specific requirements for qualifications.
Best wishes for your education and career path in Real Estate!

Hello, Emily !
There is no requirement for Realtors to have a college degree, but it could prove to be a beneficial asset to you if you do earn a degree.
You need to make a decision about whether or not you want to go to college to be a realtor or not. You will have to be licensed and you can research for your particular State what the licensing requirements are. If you decide to go to college for real estate, you will have to also make a decision about studying locally or moving to a college of your choice. I am not sure where you are located so I'm not able to recommend any schools near you, but some colleges that appear in good colleges lists for Realtors are University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, University of Southern California in Los Angeles, University of Texas in Austin, University of Georgia in Athens, GA, University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. These are just some American colleges that have been known to be good for real estate majors. It's best if you use your own discretion when you do personal research for choosing a college. The way you can get the best thing, as you've asked, is for you to choose it after careful reviewing and gaining knowledge about the schools and which one fits best into your plan.
Best wishes to you in your studies and for your future career as a Realtor !

Becoming a realtor typically doesn't require a specific college or university degree. Instead, real estate professionals typically need to complete state-specific real estate licensing requirements, which often include pre-licensing courses, passing an exam, and ongoing professional development.
That being said, if you're interested in gaining a broader understanding of business, marketing, finance, or related fields that can complement a career in real estate, you might consider colleges or universities with strong business or real estate programs. The "best" college for you depends on your specific interests, location preferences, and career goals.
Some universities with renowned business schools or real estate programs include:
1. **Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania**
2. **Sloan School of Management at MIT**
3. **Kelley School of Business at Indiana University**
4. **Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley**
5. **McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin**
Keep in mind that for a career in real estate, networking, gaining practical experience, and understanding the local real estate market are often as crucial as formal education. Additionally, specific licensing requirements and regulations vary by state, so it's essential to research the real estate licensing process in the state where you plan to work.
Consider reaching out to local real estate professionals, attending real estate events, and seeking advice from mentors in the industry to gain insights into the best approaches for building a successful career as a realtor.
