Hello, Lexi !
You have chosen two wonderful, beneficial and spirit-filled career choices and I hope that I can give you some thoughts about making decisions for where you want to go in Animal Care and Ecology.
I would suggest going straight forward working with animals. Many jobs you can get at stables, horse boarding ranches, riding clubs. You can also apply for paying jobs at the ASPCA if you are in the U.S., animal shelters, clerical or reception work at a veterinarian's office, your towns' Parks and Recreation Department, and you can shadow your local Animal Rescue team. This will all give you an experience foundation that you will enjoy and need for moving ahead. When you go for job interviews and if you are not selected, ask them later if you could volunteer. Parks and Recreation would be good for your interest in Ecology, too.
My next piece of advice is to definitely go to college and get at the minimum a Bachelors degree. What you major in all depends on which aspect of the many careers you want to go into. You will gain the knowledge and the contacts needed to work in your selected career field. Don't hesitate to actively participate in any opportunity that presents itself or chances that you discover.
For job opportunities I would recommend the two websites that I always recommend because they have always been helpful and they are Indeed and Linked In. Register at both of those websites and check your e-mail every day. Prepare a resume for yourself and write a cover letter for each individual company as you apply. There are many examples and templates of how to do this on the internet.
Keep in mind that we all start out small to gain our experience and learn on the job. Obtaining your college degree will be very important also. Once you choose a specific realm of work to focus on, any additional training or certifications will be advised by your school.
Best wishes in your studies and work !

You are welcome, Lexi. Salaries are decided upon by the employer and you may accept or not accept a job if you do not want the salary they offer.
