When it comes to college just relax and take it one step at a time. You're gonna find that you have a lot more freedom in college, so take advantage of it to explore new avenues. Also, always remember to properly schedule, with good scheduling you'll find yourself with most of your assignments done ahead of time and having ample free time to hangout with friends. With regards to the future, I can only advice to keep an eye on what you want for yourself. It's your life, don't let anyone else try to railroad you or pressure you into something you don't feel comfortable with.

Hello Sidney,

Everything will fall into place in due time. It might be beneficial to jot down what truly ignites your senses - what you love to see, hear, touch, taste, and above all, do. This exercise will aid in uncovering those aspects in school, college, and life that truly resonate with you. We often discover that when we engage in activities we enjoy or are passionate about, our immediate surroundings seem more delightful. However, understanding this won't happen overnight. Life is a journey filled with small lessons and opportunities for exploration. Start with something simple, like an after-school hobby, and use it as a means to understand yourself better (who are you when you're alone - this could be the key to discovering your future academic and life path). Maintain your curiosity and keep exploring; never lose the courage to question yourself and the world around you. Wishing you all the best on your journey of self-discovery.

Lisette’s Answer

Great question. If you have no idea on what path to pursue, I would recommend enrolling in a Junior College and take a few courses that sound interesting to you. Getting your general education classes completed along the way can help you align your ideas in what you would like to do for your future. I understand school may not be for everyone so if you may not be interested in enrolling in school, look for internships around the area you live. I'm sure there are opportunities for graduated students!
If you are preparing for college, I would advise you to look at courses the college you have applied to, enroll in those and see how things go, same as you would do above. I hope you find your path...good luck.
PS: and its okay if you change paths throughout your college career, that's normal.

Hello, Sidney !

Each person chooses not just one special thing to do in life, but many. This is your time, right now, to explore your interests, develop additional interests and sharpen all of the skills you will need for life.

Think about what you'd like to improve on or learn more about. Read up on these subjects and always ask specific questions and get lots of advice which can guide you in the right direction. You can also begin right now by studying diligently in high school , getting good grades and joining school clubs and activities until you graduate. Experience everything you can and you will find out where your niche is and it just may not be one place, you may find that there are a couple of things you really like doing.

In your junior year of high school, start reading college websites to get an idea of their programs and to see what looks good to you. Don't be too influenced by people who try to discourage you because it's your life and you are in charge. Go about it enthusiastically and know that you will find something to pursue. But it is all up to you, really.

You can also try getting a part time job if it doesn't interfere with school right now. That will definitely help you discover what you enjoy or don't enjoy. But I think the more you learn about different careers, different ways to get to your goals, you will be fine. It requires small steps. Give yourself time and give yourself some choices. Always be around very positive, supportive people, too. That will be a big help.

I hope this may have helped a bit and wish you all the best !

Burde Prerana’s Answer

Greetings!

You have the power to shape your future by selecting high school courses that match your passions or potential career paths. Additionally, you can explore a variety of other interests through extracurricular activities or internships. As we mature, our interests naturally evolve, and it's beneficial to continually align what we know with what we aspire to be. There's a certain comfort in learning and working within a familiar field, but don't shy away from embracing new knowledge if you're considering a career change. Remember, change is the only constant in life. As long as you maintain a thirst for learning throughout your journey, there's no limit to what you can achieve!

No one can tell you what you should do for your future, nor should they. You have to come to decide where your interests, skills, experiences and values could lead you. There are good quizzes, like those on MyPlan.com, that can help narrow down possible career paths based on those factors. But a lot of it is going to be in the exploring: taking classes, developing hobbies, doing volunteering and researching. And the fact remains that when you do get older, the plan you had developed in your youth may no longer seem the best one and you might, as possible, decide to change it anyway. Enjoy your life now, and start those explorations.

In terms of preparing for college, certainly work on your writing, reading, studying, note taking, organization and time management skills. Get the best grades you can, develop good work habits, and learn how to balance your days, making time for school, homework, relaxation, socializing, sleep and nutrition. You'll need that. One step at a time.

Karen’s Answer

Talk to others (family, friends, neighbors) about various careers to begin thinking about what you would like to do. It's very possible to have several careers in your lifetime, so no need to be concerned about knowing what you will do for the rest of your life.

Important to be happy, healthy and lead a balanced life doing work that you enjoy and/or that helps you reach your goals. Begin to think about what will be important to you. For example, if doing well in school is a priority, spend time planning your day with time to study and do homework. If you enjoy sports, find a team you might join or a hobby or interest to connect with others.

Take one day at a time and reflect on the good things that happen each day.

With every good wish.
