What are some of the most satisfactory aspects of being a politician?

I am interested in politics and potentially in majoring in political science in college. I am curious as to what motivates politicians to deal with the sometimes taxing issues that they are faced with on a daily basis. #politics

If you're interested in politics, specialize in budgeting and finance since local, state and federal elected officials all focus on funding projects and services . Elected officials need to be financially astute so carve out your position as a subject matter expert, and you will succeed. Best of luck to you!

Politicians can gain satisfaction from improving the conditions of their constituents, whether that means gaining access to new services, saving money, or increasing their constituents ability to participate in the political process. Similar careers--like policy analyst, city planner, or legal clerk--might also grant similar satisfaction without the pressures of being an elected official. Political science could be useful for all of those professions.
