Journalism is a career where the pursuit of truth should be your primary focus, rather than monetary gain. When you choose journalism, you're choosing to be a voice that needs to be heard. If you stay true to this vision, you'll find that financial rewards will naturally follow. Plus, as you gain more experience in this field, you can definitely expect a substantial income. So, keep going, your dedication will surely pay off.

Hi Samy and everyone that sees this post. I'm Kiamesha it's nice to meet all of you! Regarding if journalism is a good paying job, it truly does depend on if you want to do journalism as a job or career full or part time.
If you have a passion for journalism and see yourself doing a journalism type job or career then go for it! However, as an author and a person who loves journalism myself, I remember having thoughts of the practicality like income or jobs offers. It can also be tricky because journalism is such a broad description. Is there a specific branch of journalism that you want to do?

Thanks Kiamesha . Actually I don't focus on the concept " journalist " as focusing on writing, because I love writing and publishing my thoughts and ideas among very specific groups of people who will understand.
I want to be a part-time journalist for that .
If you could help me to work in an organization I would be grateful.

Hi Samy,
I can only answer for my own experience as a sports writer for a small daily newspaper about 10 years ago. Back then they paid $11.60 an hour (about $24k USD per year) and when I freelanced I got about $60 per story. I was a journalism major so I know several people that stayed in the field and generally, no, journalism does not pay well enough to own a home in the US, save for retirement etc. for most people. I cannot speak for Egypt. A lot of former journalists, such as myself, work their way into marketing, communications and other corporate functions where the skills you build as a journalist are much higher compensated than with an actual media company.
Hope that helps!
