What type of job should i be looking for?

I’m 17, and very much a beginner. I don’t have much experience, but i’ve applied to what feels like hundreds of different places. what should i be looking out for?

Thank you comment icon Hi Kaylynn, I can understand how frustrating this situation may be! I am currently going through this now and in the past. What kind of jobs are you applying for? Have you heard back from them? Are you unsure about what you type of job you want? Kiamesha Denise Sims

Brayden’s Answer

Hello Kaylynn! I understand that finding the perfect job can be a challenging journey; I've been there myself! Remember, patience is key and sometimes, the perfect opportunity takes a little while to show up. Starting with an entry-level position could be a great stepping stone towards your dream job.

Wishing you all the best in your job hunt!

Ruchi’s Answer

Hi Kaylynn, I think a good place to start would be making a list of the types of things you are good at and keeping in mind what you eventually want to be doing and the industry you would like to enter (Tech, Food, Service, Hospitality, Retail, etc). Then making another list of companies in that industry and jobs they have open that peak your interested and adding another column for your contacts at those companies that can refer you. I think even if its not what you eventually want to be doing - at 17, getting your foot in the door and just getting some entry-level experience is important.

Good luck! You are doing great already applying and thinking about this stuff! :)

Best,
Ruchi

Ruchi recommends the following next steps:

Ask yourself: What industry do I want to enter? (make a list)
Ask yourself:What transferrable am I good at (organizing, help others, critical thinking, communication, etc)?
Ask yourself:What companies seem to have entry level positions?(make a list)
Apply to the entry level positions!
Get the job :)
