Gavin’s Answer

The best way to see if a college or university is a good fit for you is to visit, if you can. That isn't always possible. Whether you visit or not, you will want to do some research about the college. When you read more about colleges, think about questions like these:
How successful is it in helping students graduate on time and move on to careers or graduate education?
What programs does it have that are related to your learning goals?
What supports are there for living on campus, or is it close enough and convenient to live with family while you study?

As to the majors or programs, many future doctors study biology, chemistry, or related programs (biochem, physiology) as undergraduates. Some colleges and universities offer a degree in a major called "pre-med" or similar. Other colleges might not offer that as a major, but they could still have a pre-med support system--like a special advisement office.
