Yes agree with Thaiz’s answer. The PMI PMP Certification is well known and recognized around the world. It can be applied in so many different aspects of business and with many companies. I obtained mine 4 years ago and has helped me directly in my career path. Good luck!

Thaiz’s Answer

Jennifer, depending on your career path choice, you may apply to different certifications. One that I believe is valuable in different careers is Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute (PMI). This is well recognized certification in several countries. I hope it could help. Good Luck!

Thaiz recommends the following next steps:

Search the applicable certifications/qualification exams applicable to your career of choice
Validate your perception with people under same career you chose

Rebecca’s Answer

Hi Jennifer, it is really subject to what area you are working on. If you are working in Accounting, you would need to achieve a CPA. If you working on Research or Trading area of Financial Institution, getting a CFA would be beneficial to your work.
In general, I recommend you could consider to take a MBA after working several years. You can learn the general management and business knowledge. It would be beneficial for you when you moving your career forward. Other than the knowledge, it is also a good opportunities for you to establish people network. You can meet with the elite in different industry and widen your horizon.
I would recommend you could explore what professional qualification on the industry you will work on and also take a MBA.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Vincent’s Answer

Hi Jennifer -

Depending on which area of business you're looking to move into, certain designations may take longer than others. If you're looking to move into Financial, the most extensive designation will be the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. There are also designations such as the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) Designation that are much shorter to complete. You also can earn credits towards your CFP designation by completing this designation. Based on the field or area you're looking to move into, I'd recommend doing an internet search for designations within that field.

Best of luck!

Vince

Nick’s Answer

Each will provide you with a different background. I recently completed the CFA examinations and believe that the information will be useful regardless of what industry you decide to pursue. It would be most relevant in finance, but it will provide a thorough understanding of economics and investing in general. This is one of the more time consuming and difficult designations to obtain, but it is worthwhile.
