How can you know which career you want?

I am confused with my career choice. I know that I want to be an engineer but I still don't know which field should I specialize in. I just love everything about engineering especially chemical, aeronautics and IT. I can't decide.

Thank you comment icon Probably not what you want to hear, but I do not believe you will ever truly know until you experience it for yourself. You are at least starting out well, you know your field of interest! If you have not already, I would suggest taking courses or seeing if you can job shadow/intern/volunteer in the specific sectors that you have the most interest in. Explore! Hopefully these in the engineering field can give you more about their experiences in each of those specializations. Hope this helped! Ashley

Chaitra’s Answer

Please check the different stream of Engineering available , the kind of job they offer and the demand for that stream of Engineer. Also talk to your seniors who may be able to help you with details and provide some inputs. Also if you know anyone pursuing the Engineering course, they will provide you inputs which will help you decide.

Farzan’s Answer

It's a very good question and not an easy one to answer. I didn't know what kind of career I wanted to pursue because I didn't have enough exposure to information until I was in university. What I knew was that I had liked to solve mathematical/physics problems. If you like problem solving, you like to get challenged by a math or physics or chemistry problem then you may want to consider engineering or one of the sciences degree and spend the first year exploring further while you are taking general courses.
