What colleges/universities in California have really good business programs ?

I'm currently doing a college search or where I would like to go and I want to major in the field of business. Since I want to stay close to my family, I'd prefer a college/university around the west coast. I've been seeing lots of colleges that have an amazing business program. But unfortunately, they are in the East Coast. #college #business #entrepreneurship #california

- University of Southern California - Marshall School of Business
- University of San Diego - School of Business Administration
- California Polytechnic State University - Orfalea College of Business
- University of California, Riverside - Anderson Graduate School of Management

Justin’s Answer

Sean offers a a good list of schools in California with undergraduate business programs. Let me add two ways to expand your search:

  1. Consider schools in the West outside of California. From Los Angeles, there are schools in neighboring states that are not much further than Northern California schools--Brigham Young University (Utah); Seattle University (Washington); University of Oregon; University of Utah; University of Washington; or

  2. Consider a liberal arts school in California. Many schools offer a core curriculum that offers a pathway towards all sorts of business jobs. Look at the USA Today rankings of liberal arts colleges (http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges). I've worked on Wall Street with alumni from California schools that include Pomona College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mud College, Occidental College, and many more. Just look into each school to see how they address careers.

Mike’s Answer

Sean and Justin's advice are both quite sound.

I would like to make 2 additional suggestions:
1. Take a look at the data that Payscale provides. (www.payscale.com). - They offer a data-based lens by which to evaluate college through different criteria.

  1. Similar to Justin's suggestion - I would make a list of companies you'd be interested in work for post-graduation, and take a look at the colleges and majors of some of the people who work there.

Hope you find this helpful.
