"How long does it usually take to open a new business in cosmetology?"
I am a senior in High School and I am still undecided if this is the career path I want. So, i just want a general idea of how long it would take me to have a business in cosmetology.

In any business experience is first. Then do you have a unique skill set within cosmetology? I have a friend who did makeup in Los Angeles for models and commercials. Honestly, you might not want to have a 'business". They take a lot of work and you may not make much money until all your loans from starting the business (equipment, supplies, etc.) are paid off. I would encourage you to work for as many shops as you can, strategically moving up in the career to better and better exposure. If you love doing makeup, start an Instagram account and show it off. Your followers will teach you what you need to learn.
PS Within the field of cosmetology there are so many directions - Costume makeup for theater, makeup for TV, makeup for people who have had surgery even, makeup for Hollywood (demons, devils, zombies, etc..lol). So think about what specifically interests you in this field. You may even develp your own skin care line or makeup line one day. So, many options to go in this field. Good luck to you!

You might look into this workbook (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/bc/content/ldsorg/topics/self-reliance/2017/14678_sgmb_book_eng.pdf?lang=eng) and see what ideas it sparks for you to answer this question and others you might have.
