Josie,

There are endless opportunities in health care, but if you're considering roles that take care of the health (and illness) of the public/patients on the frontline, I can speak from my experience as Family Medicine PA. Daily work is challenging and rewarding, and there are certainly moments that you could describe as exhilarating. In reality, not everyone in medicine or health care is always up and moving, but I know that I and the nursing staff who supports me are constantly on the go. I guess another way to look at this is that you could choose a health care career based on your preference.

Good luck whichever career path you choose!

For me, it absolutely is. Every day is something new. I love the puzzle of figuring out the best plan of care for my patients and it keeps my mind active. I spend most of the day on my feet and it keeps me active.

Allison’s Answer

Working in the health care sector is an absolutely thrilling experience! Regardless of your specific role within the healthcare environment, there's always a buzz of activity. I've personally held a variety of healthcare positions, ranging from an EMT and Research Assistant, to a Medical Assistant and even a screener at a hospital during the peak of COVID. Each of these roles is distinct, yet I find myself thoroughly enjoying every moment spent in the realm of medicine.

Yes, it can be exhausting to be on your feet constantly, but it's essential to remember why you chose healthcare in the first place. If your heart is truly invested in aiding others, then the fatigue from weary muscles becomes insignificant. Despite the mental and physical demands of this field, it offers immense satisfaction and rewards that are beyond compare!
