Hi Karlie
Aisha has given you some excellent advice. To add on to her guidance, you may want to consider gaining insight into your natural strengths and building your career path options based on those results. Often, we may not even realize what natural strengths we possess. There are assessments to help you identify them. My favorite is StrengthsFinder. But, I recommend that you do your own research and find one that best suits your needs. The resulting report will not only be helpful now as you discover potential careers, but will also be beneficial as your career progresses and opportunities are presented to you.
Best wishes for success on your journey.

Stanley’s Answer

Hi Karlie,

The great part about life is that it is not as simple as walking down a linear path. You have the flexibility to explore, pivot, and switch careers as you see fit.

The best place to start when it comes to choosing your initial career is to start with your why. To help you understand that, you can ask yourself the following:
-What interests me?
-What am I good at?
-What am I passionate about?
-What excites me?

These sorts of question will help you better understand your interests and passions. From there, you can use it to narrow down on aspects such as subjects, extra-curricular activities, and more which will help define career paths that you can take along with mentors which whom you can reach out to.

All the best on your journey. The most important thing to remember is to have fun and do not be afraid to try new things outside of your comfort zone.

Aisha’s Answer

Hello Karlie,

Determining if a career is right for you can be identified through several signs. A key indicator is your passion for the work you're doing. If you love it, chances are you're in the right place. Another sign is if your skills match the tasks and responsibilities of the job. This suggests the career may be a good fit.

Also, if your personal values resonate with the company or industry you're in, you're likely to find your career more rewarding and satisfying. Enjoying your job and looking forward to work each day is another strong hint that you've found the right career.

Moreover, if you're experiencing personal and professional growth in your job, it's a good sign that the career suits you. Remember, it can take time to find the perfect career. It may require trying different roles and industries. And it's perfectly fine to switch careers if you realize it's not the right fit.

Chuqi’s Answer

If you're considering certain career paths, the best way to determine if a job is right for you is to get some experience. As a student, you're in a unique position to explore various career options without the pressure of immediate decision-making. Seek out internship opportunities as they will provide you with a deeper understanding of the career path and assist you in deciding if it's the right fit for you. If you're unsure about what to pursue, I suggest starting with what brings you happiness every day, then take into account your strengths or subjects you're particularly good at. Write these down, and these could be some potential career paths that you can start exploring.
