A "Semester at Sea" is not really dropping out of college, is it? You are still working at your education and you'll go back. These programs exist because they are incredible educational opportunities.
I think it's best to just ask wherever your grant comes from what the rules are. Can you defer your university studies and your grant while you are at sea?
