Hi Botlhokwa,

If you want to be a doctor, you need to go to medical school (6-7 years in South Africa for your first degree).

Here is some information about the subjects you would have to study and entry requirements for Wits as an example:

https://www.wits.ac.za/course-finder/undergraduate/health/medicine-and-surgery/

There are other options in the medical field like nursing, optometry, occupational therapy, anatomy etc that could also be options for you. Those typically take 4 years. Please check what the options and requirements are at different universities.

If you are worried about tuition would you not get NSFAS? Please find out if you qualify or if you qualify for any other bursaries.

You find some information on available bursaries for medical students here:

https://www.zabursaries.co.za/medical-bursaries-south-africa/

Good luck!
