How do I improve my time management skills?

I've been struggling with time management for a while now and I can't get anything done.

For several years, I taught a successful time-management course. I won't waste your time with a full summary, but I will share here the key components: Do NOT attempt to get everything done, just focus on getting the important ones done. That's it. Most people fail because they believe that they must get everything done, but that's never been true. For example, if you have two tasks: cleaning your room or finishing a class assignment, cleaning the room can be delayed or skipped for a week, but the class assignment has a due date. It is the trivial tasks that consume us, not the essential ones. All the best to you.

I can see from your profile that you are a student. So, you will be mostly engaged with your studies and related assignments. Managing time comes when you are loaded with many tasks where you feel unfocused. and struggling to handle any of those tasks properly. Best way to tackle this situation is to prioritize your tasks based on the importance and time delivery committed. There are chances that few tasks depend on someone or something to act up on prior to you. And there are few which doesn't require any others' involvement. Latter one can be easily done now instead of postponing to a later date. But for the former one, you can still do something like, asking for updates from those persons where the task is pending or even trying to get help from someone if it is depending on something which you are not fully aware. Because the task ETA would be the same even if it is not on you at the moment.

Even though people may suggest you have to be good at multitasking, I don't recommend it. Focusing on one thing at a time would give more quality to the work when compared to focusing on multiple things at a time. Quality is equally important as quantity.

Time keeps on moving, even if you do your work or not. Let it go since you don't have any control over the time. But managing your task is often called as time management, requires your commitment. You should be having a work life balance where you need to have a personal life even though your focus is on your studies. With having the personal life to the fullest, you can still be good at the tasks assigned. For that you need to take everything lightly. When you treat things complicated, it would create so much of mess around. Take things lightly with the focus it demands, so you would be good at handling them and finishing it sooner.

Don't get over tensed. Face it in real time rather. And believe in yourself. This way things would be much easier in managing, so does the time.

Thank you for your question. Firstly, you need to find a time management tool to help you, eg Google Calendar, Phone Calendar, MS Outlook, etc
Below are my suggestions:
1. Put down the time you need to attend school
2. Assign so e time every day to do the assignment, projects, etc and review the materials covered in the class. Prepare for the next school day. Take a 5-10 min every 1.5 - 2 hours
3. Make sure you have enough time to sleep. Do some exercise every day.
4. Allocate some time for leisure and friends & family gathering
5. You may need to assign more time for revision before assessment/exam
You don't need to fill up your schedule completely. Leave some time for relax and reflection.

One thing you could try is using a planner. Using a planner can help you list out all your current to do items, and see which ones are due first and require the most priority. Often times, checking these items off can make it easy to organize your time and makes it easy for you to track everything!
