It's great you are looking to get a head start. In addition to the recommendations already provided I suggest using reputable online resources such as Khan Academy to learn more about programming and the different languages involved.

Euly’s Answer

Firstly, a conceptual or overview knowledge of computer programming will be helpful. Next, knowledge of the various types of programming languages such as basic HTML, JavaScript will be helpful. Knowledge of the various platform from which a program is developed will help. For example, there will be programming languages in the mobile platform (like the one you download from Apple or Google stores vs. one that you execute from your web browser from a desktop). You don't have to know the languages but just the concept of web vs mobile programming and programming languages. In some high schools, like the one my nephew (who is now a freshman in college) went to, there are high school that offer Java programming. If your high-school does not offer any computer-related courses, community colleges generally have these courses. And if you go to community college while being a concurrent high-school, your tuition may be free.

Euly recommends the following next steps:

check available computer courses in your school course manual
check possibility of enrolling in a computer course in a community college
Google free computer programming courses

Rafael A.’s Answer

You should take any introductory classes available. Computer coding languages and any other computer related classes available to you. Also you should try to become familiar with what is in demand in the market place today.

Try joining clubs that deal with computer programming and if possible attend weekend programs that offer information on computer programming.

Good Luck
