Kylee, if you continue to be interested in running a child care program, the major for you is clearly Education, specifically Early Childhood Education (my specialty). Understand that child care, well, good child care, is not just babysitting. It should be enriching. So you'd have to have a background in child development, as well as teaching methods, curriculum/activity planning and classroom management. You'd also want to have a health class under your belt, in addition to the required first aid/CPR and child abuse trainings. When it comes time, look for a college or community college that specializes in Early Childhood Education and Development.

Your major should be based upon whatever you enjoy doing most and what you have a passion for.

What do you want to focus on? Do you want your skills to be nursing? Or business administration? Build on a strength and then when you master that enhance your opportunities.
Talk to people who do what you do, college may not be right.

Starting with Early Childhood Education is a great move. Grasping the growth and development of children is the heart of this job. However, knowing how to efficiently manage a business is equally crucial. Balancing these two skills is key to maintaining a thriving company and fostering the growth and development of your employees in their classrooms. It's a challenging yet rewarding journey.
