What can make picking a major easier?
Picking a major seems like one of the biggest decisions I'll have to make between highschool and college since it has such a big impact on my future. How can I break it down to just one major that is ideal for me? #college-major

Tara, Identifying with one major can be a journey and an endless road to go down. I hope to give you some structure on how to approach the path of your academic studies.
1) Study abroad for one year if you can, this experience will certainly give you time to learn more about yourself and the world around you.
2) Talk with your faculty and ask them what type of jobs each subject matter can be applied in the real world. Find out if there are summer internships that they know about to apply.
3. Which classes are you excelling or the classes that light you up inside. Is this the path for you? It just might be. Pay attention to how you engage with your studies and new challenges in the class. Are you excited or feeling really down and frustrated. What courses are easy for you. You might just find that this is also an area of your life profession.
4. Ask yourself hard questions. Do you want to help others (healthcare or social work or psychology)? Do you like how systems work (IT, Businesses, logistics etc)? Check out https://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/story.php?title=what-degree-shall-you-pursue-in-college
5. Seek out the academic counseling services at your school to help guiding your decision.
6. Join a club or social group of your interests.
7. Job search and read job descriptions and learn about what skills you will need for various jobs. Indeed.com or Monster.com
I hope this is helpful. All the best to you!!

I was fortunate enough to attend a university that allowed me to wait until between sophomore and junior years to pick my major. If you can't delay this choice, my advice is to look at the classes that you've enjoyed, not the ones that you've earned the best grades, and select your major from those.
If you pick a major based on getting all A's in them - but you're not that interested, then you will be frustrated when the subject matter becomes difficult. I have found that out painfully.
Good luck on your search!
